There is no reason to not check it out, but it can be quite steep. There is a pumptrack at the bottom that is a good place to gain skills and there is a beginner skills area on the way up the mountain (after a relatively short climb) that would be a good place to start. I'm not familiar with other trails in the area but it looks like there is some good variety at the Kerr Scott Trails in Wilkesboro as well if you want to try some other trails as well.

There are different difficulty levels for each trail. Some are more technical than others. If you don't feel comfortable on a section you can always walk it. Then the may be a trail that you just want to avoid. The trail system is well marked.
There are different levels. But you and your daughter could most likely handle the Rocky Branch Trail and Der Garden on the bottom half of the trail system. Not to difficult and good starting point.
