Certain new releases (like Solo) usually have a two week waiting period before one is allowed to use a pass or discounted ticket. Discounted tickets are typically available from your bank or credit union for their customers. Some employers offer them as well. Typical passes are available from donating blood. Best option is to check with the theatre before you get there. But you could still use the pass for other movies. Or wait till it's allowed for the movie you would like to see. Hope this helps.
Buying a ticket for one movie and watching another is illegal and is akin to shop lifting. Be aware that you can get arrested for that.
During the first two weeks (some times four) the studio adds restrictions on the theaters on paases and discount tickets. I know if you use Regal points for a free ticket, there is a $1.50 fee added per ticket, if used during the restriction period.
Call and ask. If they say "no", go to Costco next door. They offer discounted Regal tickets.
