So, what is the primary difference between their slam poetry night, spoken word, and open mic? Also, is music ever allowed to be used as well? (Like I brought a cd track for example)?

Slam Poetry is poetry only. Spoken word is can be poetry and spoken word. Open Mic night can be anything and includes music and singing.

Yes music is allowed but during poetry slams it's timed or regulated to a set time...
