My experience is the same. Only up to TSA. However if special needs or age is a factor, you can make special arrangements in advance with the airlines for both pre departure , and post arrival . Even special transport upon your initial arrival to the facility.

Not through tsa screening, Unless u have boarding pass. You can go as far as the tsa area
