Can't speak for the whole hospital, but for Labor and Delivery and Mother Baby the mom can have one person with her if she is in labor. That person and the mom will be confined to their room for the duration of the stay. No one else is allowed to come to your room. If the partner leaves the hospital for any reason they are not allowed to come back. You cannot go to the parking lot, or the lobby, you have to to stay in your room, or in the unit. This was the case a few weeks ago, and not sure if it has changed recently.
