Maybe they ordered the special of the day or possibly they called ahead. You never know why unless you ask. You should've asked. Had it been an oversight on their part they may have given u a discount. Now you will never know. A dumb question is one that's not asked.
They could have ordered a simple 🍕. Probably just liked them better than you. I'm sure their money was the same, though. I would agree on the staff though.
