In 2020, the "real ID" law goes into effect, unless they postpone it again. Some state's driver licenses do not meet the minimum requirments for ID to travel inside the US. I obtained and use a passport to travel inside the US because my state (CA) did not issue "real ID's" until recently. My current CA driver's license states on it that it is not a valid ID.

No, you dont need it because Las Vegas is in the United States of America . You will only need a passport if you are a not a U.S Resident . Or you are leaving the US. You only need to bring a state I.d or drivers license
