Restoration of Mission San Luis Obispo was started in 1933, returning the Mission's Church back to its original design. In 1880, the church had been remodeled to resemble a New England church. So, now, it's perfectly as close to original as possible. It doesn't need remodeling.
Not that I am aware of. The beauty and charm of the missions is that many features are original and in tact. It takes us back in time to a period before machinery and other modern advances.
