Frank - the answer from Rina is not correct!!! The actual answer to your question is since the lease is a legal document only between a landlord and their tenant, any early exit from a lease is between that landlord and that tenant, DHA has no say at all in the terms since we are not a party to the lease. Of course if the tenant expects to move with their voucher to another unit, DHA would have to receive a copy of the early release signed by both the landlord and their tenant.

Frank-The new ownership has a legal obligation to observe your current lease and its terms till the expiration date. Usually a lease break consists of a notice period of 60-90 and a buyout fee. Rina is not correct-Due to Fair Housing all lease breaks are handled the exact same way.

Usually with 60 days notice to the landlord and DHA. Sometimes it depends on circumstances
