Yes. Non-flash photography is allowed at the Newberry Library in Chicago Illinois USA.
We allow non-flash photography in our exhibits and our reading rooms (as long as you’re not taking photos of other readers without their permission). Last winter, we adopted an open access policy regarding images of our collection. You can take pictures (or have images created for you by our imaging services department) and use them for any purpose without paying the Newberry any usage fees. It’s up to users to make sure they’re in compliance with copyright law.
