Theres no free parking absolutely nowhere. You have meter parking by Buckingham fountain and Wells street, but there rush hour restrictions though. The safest place to park is garages but the next cheapest will be parking lots.
There are free places to park in Chicago. Within walking distance of downtown Chicago? No. Probably six miles ... Plus.
