I bought two tickets from united airlines ,,, usually I go southwest and I have to check in 24 hours before .. does this apply to United also ? Since with the tickets I bought they come with 2 reserved seats .

United you get preassigned seating. Usually you check-in sooner to get a better boarding group.

Yes, you may check-in for your UnitedAirlines (UA) flight online starting 24 hours and ending 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time
