The Mormon Tabernacle Choir also uses teleprompters during Pioneer Day and Christmas concerts. These are not the ones the speakers use. There are two big ones in the back on the main (plaza) level, and some smaller ones at the front by the conductor.
There is a teleprompter that the speaker reads from. It is visible from only a few spots in the audience. They write their talks ahead of time so the translaters can read from them during the conference. These prepared talks are shown from the rostrum onto the screen so the speaker can look around the audience instead of down at the rostrum.
Usually there are multiple screens hidden from the audience so it looks like they're speaking from memory.
