Call the Virginia Dept. Of Inland Game & Fisheries and report them. They will send out a Law Enforcement Agent to either warn them, or issue a ticket, or arrest them. Regulations state that they cannot trespass on private property, and they must be at least 100 yards away from the nearest paved road and/or building structure for them to discharge a firearm; unless they're on their own private property. Do not confront them, because some of them may be illegally poaching.

The state of Virginia has a right to retrieve law which means the hunter can go on posted property to get his dogs as long as he has no weapons or is not driving a motor vehicle and is on foot.

J Y thank you I will look into this.

@Tyra Robinson DEFINITELY invest in some "POSTED" Signs. These signs specifically state "NO HUNTING' on your property. Also contact the VA Dept of I & F, the Warden can come & give you more advise.

There are hunter hunters everywhere we had one shoot his gun off 3 times to scare are horses it was awlful. He was standing right next to the road when he fired .All the horses went straight up.in the air thank God we all stayed on but it was done intentionally.

You can be near the road. Opposite side of the ditch. No trespassing signs should be followed as posted!! Call the game warden and they can explain the laws.

Check with your local game warden, some places 300 feet others 300 yards.( Game wardens are state police)
