They get confused, because donors get paid the employees forget that the donor is the customer. Management is to blame for crappy employee attitudes at least when displayed in front of donors.
Typically the employees are stressed out because the donors are often rude and inconsiderate. Donors are not customers. You go in and get paid. Donors go in with a sense of entitlement and if anything goes wrong with the donation they immediately blame the technician. Stuff happens, and you may not be able to donate that day due to a slow drip. The technician isn't there to screw you out of money. It isn't their fault. Being rude is one of the fastest ways to get deferred though.

Their job sucks.
The job is low pay and high demand. There's no down time and you're spread thin. Then you get rude donors to top it off.
