I don't believe so, but you can get less expensive kits to practice with from places like home Depot, Lowe's and such. They have less working time and don't torch as well on average but they will definitely give you some practice. Try making a few sample boards, small, that you can easily manage and play around! It's really fun, and when you think you got it, go ahead and order the stone coat. It really is a fun product and torches very well. I would add that you use a torch that is regulated so that you can use it facing down without any issues of torch failure. I hope this helped

Go ahead and buy the small kit. I think it is about $90. Trust me, you will want to do more than one practice piece. Not that it is hard to do. But because you will want to try different things. It is addicting. Have fun with it.
