You could try the nopsi hotel that's where I stayed when I went to NOLA it was a great hotel and also about a 5 to 10 min walk to the arena. But theres a lot of good hotels around the area.

I just stayed at The Jazz House on Canal St. It is a hostel with dorms for travelers with a passport, but private rooms also for anyone, as long as you are from outside the NOLA area. I felt very safe, nice friendly staff, and ice cold A.C. Includes free wifi, continental breakfast! $39 a night ! Streetcar stop is 100 yards away.

My last hotel to try was Sheraton. Walking distance to the arena. Only downfall is you have to pay for wifi.

There are hotels everywhere around within walking distance.
