We found a parking garage for $12.00 all day, on the street over from crabby's, just cut through surf style shop. We didn't mind $12.00 considering all the other parking was really expensive.

They would have known when they decided to open a business in a location that only had metered parking. And I am 100% sure the city has a great and wonderful excuse for a 30 minute meter limit. It's best to stay home anymore anyways.
Im pretty sure the business does not control whether the parking is metered or not. That would be up to the city. There is other parking in the area that isn't metered, just a short walk to the restaurant.
