You can, but you won't see much beyond your mask! The water is very nutrient rich but very turbid. The viz is very low. The reefs are much further offshore and the best one is Gray's Reef about 20 mile's offshore of Sapelo Island.

If you boat into Parson Creek at South West corner of Wassaw Island you can anchor up just South of the U.S Fish and Game dock. Go ashore and you will find a well marked trail to the beach. Great hike thought a mature maritime forest to the ocean. Great easy adventure.

Yes, give it a try, stay on the southwest side of the island and don't expect to see anything
