I am considering coming straight from the airport to the museum. Is there a place to store luggage at the museum or in the area?

Maybe you contact a concierge at a hotels in the area, they may store your bags for a tip

I would suggest dropping your bags off at your hotel first there's a lot of walking and very large crowds.

When i went, many of the lockers weren't functioning properly. You should find some other way to store your bags if you want them to be secure.

The Museum has a limited number of lockers available. The dimensions are:  Small- Height 16", Width of door 8.5", Width of interior 12", Depth 16"  Medium- Height 22", Width of door 8.5", Width of interior 12", Depth 16"  Large- Height 34", Width of door 8.5", Width of interior 12", Depth 16"

From their website: There is no coat or bag check available within the museum building. We encourage visitors to leave large bags and packs behind, and to travel as lightly as possible for the best museum experience.

I did not see a area for storage, but it may be a possibility.
