Yes. During the daytime, the Park Service has an employee there. It's been a few years, but I actually took my wife there on one of our first dates. I have never experienced any problems there. If you get a chance, and are interested in the US Civil War, there is another park pretty close. It's called " Fort Foote". It was an "earthenworks" fort created to protect Washington DC during the Civil War. It doesn't have much left, except a few huge "Napoleon" cannons that were part of the fort. If you decide to go there too, I encourage you to Google it first, to educate yourself about it. It's not much to still look at, but it's a neat historical site. It's not manned by the Park Service.
