I have a 48 hr ticket that includes Hop on hop off ferry .Can i go directly to the ferry or do I need to go to the visitors centre first for ferry ticket

You need to go to the visitor center that is right next to the ferry

You must go directly to the ferry, there at the ticket office hand over the pass and they will give you the ticket.
