My son is a new student at NYU in Greenwich Village. I used to get my haircut at Astor Place back in the 1980’s. Is it still a place to get a “hip” New York City haircut ? Who is a young African American stylist who I should have my son ask for.

I have been going to Astor for over 30 years also and totally agree with Nelson! They can do whatever your son will want!

I've been going to here for 30 years. Even though I've kept my style the same all this time, I've seen plenty of customers getting current styles.I have confidence with the front desk to direct your son to the right hair stylist. what I recommend is to walk in, sit down and watch the guys do their work. He can decide on a hairstylist by watching and seeing which customers come in and out. I would also recommend saving images of styles he is interested.
