They test their batteries before putting them on the Shelf. Their life span is not guaranteed but the date stamps are usually on the side. So they actually charge the batteries and test them the next day to see if they hold a charge. And they'll test them again in front of you at the register.
Take a wire touch postive and negative if it sparks battery is good no spark battery is bad
