Would a parked car be safe for four or five days? Thinking of taking a trip on the Zephyr to Reno and want to leave car there. I'd be coming from Sioux Falls.

I'm there quite often and speak with the Amtrak agents on a regular basis. I've never heard of any cars being broke into. The lighting in the parking lot is a little dim and it's not in the greatest area, but I still believe it would be safe to park your car there for the week. A deterrent for would be thugs may be that there's a news station next door with workers in and out around the clock, plus, they have cameras all around their building. There's a lot of train traffic in the area too, which may also be a deterrent for thugs. I recommend parking between the news building and the station near the train tracks if you're going to park there.

Parking lot seemed pretty safe. I heard the staff talking to some one and you can leave your car parked there up to a month.
