Because the owner of Moores is not Tommy, who ran a very fine BBQ spot for years. The new owner is a Moore, but has his hands in Smithfield BBQ, which is spicy, and not the quality of food when Tommy had it. We do not eat at either place because not happy with how place has changed it food taste, not like spicy.....Staff is great, but they cant do anything to fix the food. This is just my opinion....
David Moore used to be an owner of two Smithfield’s locations, but he has completely cut ties with them and has no relation to them whatsoever. David simply cooks on Applewood, where Tommy cooked on Oak. Applewood tends to bring out the spices more. The recipe is actually the same as when Tommy made it.
Wish they would cool it down... you can add hot but not take away
Delicious!
So good
I didn't see any wood outside.
The BBQ is nothing special. Nixon's BBQ beats the brakes off of this place.
Was just there yesterday and I didn't find it too spicy. And I don't like spicy at all. Tommy Moore also used Applewood, so not sure that's where the difference is, but there is s difference in taste.
