Dorothy, what was your dad's name and in what time period did he serve? There have been three (3) ships to bear the name USS KIDD: our ship (DD-661) which served in WWII, the Korean War, and the Cold War; the second KIDD (DDG-993) which served at the end of the Cold War and during the Persian Gulf War; and the third KIDD (DDG-100) currently serving in the active fleet.
No
There was a later Kidd in service during my navy time (1987-1991)
Not unless it was during korea or vietnam... dd-661 the fletcher was thru vietnam, Ddg-993 was the kidd-class ship in the late80s-1990s, and the latest is an arleigh burke class yours was most likely the middle of the three, not this one.
Probably not unless it was 1945
No, many Navy ships are named USS Kidd, and this was the first one to be named that way. this boat was built in the 1940s.
John Fredric Milliken was his name he served in the early 90's on the kidd ddg 993
I don't think so. From what I saw last time I went the hull is anchored to some posts set in the ground. You can even look up aerials of it on Google when the water has receded and see it's on dry land and the posts that anchor it in place. Maybe the USS Texas BB-35 is the one you're thinking of.
Its located in Baton Rouge Lauisiana l dont think it is.
Its a real destroyer ship from ww2, its basically a ww2 museum... it doesn't go out to sea.
