They do that to everyone. It's in their written policy. They aren't being discriminatory they're being thorough.
I think it's their policy. I had to give 3 working numbers . I rented the van and returned it with no problems. So it's not discrimination.
It is a PITA! I was also concerned because when they instituted this policy it was my 3rd truck rental AND I already rent a large storage unit! And when I couldn't verify both alternate numbers because my wife couldn't or wouldn't answer the phone, the whole rental was in jeopardy.
