Sherri, we have never had an adoption fee because we don't want it to be about "buying a dog", instead we hope people will consider the cost to MLAR to have cared for the pet. 80% of the animals who come to us have had no medical care, so vaccines, spay/neuter, microchip, care and housing and anything else they need, we need to raise money to cover. We certainly hope people will take that into consideration when they adopt, but we don't expect a set fee. For some families making a monthly donation for a year, is easier than a lump sum at the time of adoption. However it works best for the adopters.
They don't charge any. They will accept free will donations but no charges for adoptions.
