ALDI is German and started out being run by two brothers. One was responsible for ALDI SOUTH and the other brother ALDI NORTH. Ultimately ALDI SOUTH opened ALDI in the U.S. in 1976 in IOWA, while ALDI NORTH acquired TRADER JOE'S in 1958 in CALIFORNIA. Eventhough they are both operate under the ALDI banner, the two are run by two separate companies. Hope this helps.
Nancy. From what I understand, a family owns the two businesses. One brother owns Trader Joe's and the other owns Aldi's. I know Aldi's is an international company with supermarkets in Europe.
They are owned by the same parent company. Both are part of an German ownership.
The same person owns them but they are not linked like walmart and Sam's club
