NY metro is available at both airports. There are lots of hotels, but NY tends to be expensive. Try looking for a package with airfare and hotel.
Just did this last week. Flew into Newark, uber was $45. Stayed st Hilton in Time Square was a 15 minute walk to show to see Wicked. Plenty of restaurants all around. 20 minute walk to Rockefeller center or Radio city also..
It's about 30 minutes
I agree with AJC...
It's worth checking all the area airports for fares and schedules. LaGuardia is the closest. Taxi or Uber/Lyft will get you into Manhattan easily; only a few miles but travel time varies a lot depending on traffic. Lots of hotel choices. Best to stay in midtown Manhattan to be close to Broadway. Use a trusted travel website to compare hotels (read the reviews). Enjoy your trip!
