It's permanent housing and folks rarely vacate. You might be old before you are contacted for an opening. My god parents have lived there for 40 years at least. You would be better off applying for lottery apartments via housing connect. Or shop around for other subsidized housing. Some Mitchell - Lama lists are shorter. Also look outside the city. Am acquaintance who is a ceramicist recently applied for some artist subsided development in Peekskill. That isnt too far away. You might also do better to apply for every fiction related fellowship you can find.
Westbeth opened the waiting list in March 2019 - it was announced on the web site and various other media; , the ability to download applications was closed on April 15 2019. Deadline for completed applications is May 31, 2019. Once completed application are received, a housing lottery will be done and those selected will be put on the waiting list for current and future vacant apartments.
