Have there been any Black Bear or Coyote sightings within the park's limits? Would visitors need to maintain safety regulations to prevent wildlife attacks? Thanks.

Cabin John Park has an active dog pen where visitors routinely bring dogs of all sizes. Many people walk their pets (dogs/cats) around the paved trail. I have been walking around the Paved Trail near the kids train for over a year and have never seen a threatening animal such as a bear or coyote. If such an animal were to approach the area, I am sure the numerous dogs would erupt in barking. They would sense such animals way before humans. I am always alert for a stray fox or raccoon but have never seen one. Having all those dogs around provides comfort. And some of those dogs look large enough to take on a coyote. Hope this helps.

I go there pretty often. Once saw a snake (believe not poisonous) but in general its a great and safe place to go with kids :).

Almost never. I’ve lived in this area for over 45 years and have never seen either one of those myself. There was apparently a black bear sighting within the last four years, but that is incredibly rare. Plenty of deer, squirrels, birds, and an occasional fox. If you have an unattended small child, bigger risks are cars in parking lot or an occasional dog off leash. Always respect wildlife when encountered.
