When I went this past September, they weren't allowing anyone in the house as it is being renovated. There are areas you can go see on the plantation. It is best to call and find out what days they do tours. I'm not gonna lie. You must drive carefully going through the "wild forest" as I call it. It looks like a jungle or sort of like jurassic park. A pick up truck will suffice if you own one. There are other houses you will pass by on the way... The beautiful part of this land, although it is sad to see how they lived, the water banks at the back of the house. I personally had haunting images of how and what they tried to do for freedom. I can not fathom how they died for their freedom. This is a place where you see, feel, and wonder How? and Why?
They only do tours on weekends & one of the guides said they stopped letting people in the house right now, it was built in 1901 needed to renovate some of it..but you can go in the barn & that area.
Tours are only on the weekends. Saturday and Sunday and they are usually book up quickly
Best is to contact them. There's tours all the time. Great place to see.
