The road needs grading, the buildings are in good shape, and the ranger/docent was very knowledgeable.

If we go tomorrow, can we have a tour of the house?

Gary Therese Wilson | Sep 30, 2019
Naomi Roman | Sep 30, 2019

When I went this past September, they weren't allowing anyone in the house as it is being renovated. There are areas you can go see on the plantation. It is best to call and find out what days they do tours. I'm not gonna lie. You must drive carefully going through the "wild forest" as I call it. It looks like a jungle or sort of like jurassic park. A pick up truck will suffice if you own one. There are other houses you will pass by on the way... The beautiful part of this land, although it is sad to see how they lived, the water banks at the back of the house. I personally had haunting images of how and what they tried to do for freedom. I can not fathom how they died for their freedom. This is a place where you see, feel, and wonder How? and Why?
