Probably never going to happen. The airport is not sized for planes that large. Plus its a short drive from RSW. Literally 30 minutes.
Last I knew Detroit City Airport (DET) was the shortest runway in the system that commercial flights flew into back in the 80s and SWA used to fly in there before pulling out to condensing all flights to DTW Detroit Metro. With all the snow, ice and bad weather that we used to land ac we had our share of slides off a short runway in bad crosswinds that's for sure not to mention cemetery's at either end ...lol! Unsure how long the runway is at Naples but the wx is definitely better!!
