They're supposed to be renovating it yes, but nothing has been said about what it'll be or when the revovations are going to be started.

Yes they are planning on eventually making it a working train station again. Or at least hoping it'll be that again. "Although the project does not rely on it happening, it is the ultimately the CTRC’s hope that, with the reuse of the Terminal, rail traffic will also be forthcoming whether starting with interest in the possible reuse of Buffalo’s legendary Belt Line; local light rail expansion and the future of the Terminal’s reuse as a connector hub for possible high-speed rail. The Central Terminal Restoration Corporation, in cooperation with local, state, and federal government representatives, are working to position the Terminal to be Buffalo's high-speed rail station as well as the potential return of Amtrak service."

It's an ongoing renovation dependent on money mostly through hosting events and donations.

Stephanie, it will never be a full train station again. It may be a stop for Amtrak at some point, but never be a train station occupying the entire building. There is nowhere closer to the amount of trains running along that line compared to the peak use of the station. We can hope a deal like its sister station in Detroit just got by being bought by Ford Motor Company. Ford is going to restore that station and maintain a public area on the main floor. The state won't take over the Buffalo station because they likely don't want to be responsible for the project. Better to let a local group, if no corporate sponsor is available, operate the building and fundraising. The reason it is a mess in the office does is they are waiting to get their elevator working again. They have to convert it to a different voltage. Our tour guide told us that once the elevator is operating again, the hauling out of garbage will start.

went there on a gohst hunt tour. 1st floor is nice anything higher is an utter mess. the state should take it over and renovate.

Someone has bought it that has a lot of money and had plans, but the plans where turned down when presented and they are coming up with new ones for a shop plaza and it is kept secret because they STILL run it like they have NO money and do events and tours for money!
