That was never my experience. And the meats are frozen. The dates on meat always says, "use or freeze by..." As long as it stays frozen, it's not "expired." The care center is one of the nicest pantries I've ever been too, but as other contributors have suggested, you can always go elsewhere if you're not please with what they have to offer.
Many canned and dry goods are still usable several months past the expiration date. The fruits and vegetables are usually fresh and edible. The meats are frozen and are usable to the day that you defrost them. The baked goods are also usable a week or two beyond the expiration date. If these are your concerns, then, by all means, seek assistance elsewhere. But in my experience ALL FOOD ITEMS from ALL FOOD PANTRIES have expired goods. That is why they are available to begin with. The estimated cost of the food items that l have recieved from Willow Creek is in the 250 to 300 dollar range.
It comes feom the food depository. I have had only 2 problems with meat. Honestly if your unhappy dont go. A lot of people seek food and help there
