Seen someone with a 350z when I was up there..
I made it both ways (from Boulder Creek and Buck Rock Campground) in a stock GMC Canyon. The dirt road from Buck Rock Campground is definitely the best way to go in a car.
It would be beneficial but not needed. I slowly drove up it with a lexus ct200h and another with a Toyota corolla. You likely will scrape if your not an experienced off road driver.
