Bring a few bungee cords to tie the tubes together to create a flotilla. This will help everyone get your rafting bearings. Consider bringing a small cooler with drinks/snacks. Buy a waterproof case for your phone. Works well to allow music streaming from your phone to create a fun mood. Dont forget a hat and sunscreen. Wear oldish flipflops in case you lose one/both to rhe mud or current or buy water shoes (cheap at WalMart in your hometown vs. at the rafting shop. Have a great time. Your family will love it!
Personally I enjoyed the white water rafting guided tour. It is safe and relatively mild as 1, 2 and 3s at max is the "rapid speeds" where stronger rivers can be 4, 5 or even 6's. Done this several times and always great fun. The guide will instruct you and you will all have e life preservers on. We were taught if your gonna fall, fall INTO the raft!! Waters are not deep and summer months really tame. Wear water shoes not flip flops and definitely lots of sunscreen. It's about 3 hours total and a break in between where they give u water and lemonade. If u want pics need water proof case for cell phone or will be ruined. Bus ride is fun and a great late morning or afternoon activity. Unforgettable in my opinion. They will Love it!!! Guided tour.
I like the white water tubing trip better but if you're looking to just have a relaxing day on the water I'd suggest flat water and a cooler with water, ice and maybe a snack. Plenty of places to pull off on the side and hang out for a little bit. For white water -check water conditions before going and for both SUNSCREEN if you think it's enough, add some more
