If dog is nervous, a sedative pill can be used. Cleaning is vet-supervised. Not as deep a cleaning as when dog is anesthetized, but fine if no gum disease or tooth pulling needed or if you have a breed that has trouble with anesthesia Much less expensive. Our dog was fine with it, just lay there quietly while it was done.
