In my opinion, it's not a good idea. The water flows through the canal at a pretty good speed. If there is any ice at all, there's a really good chance it's not thick, or stable, enough to support your weigh. There is a really good chance you can fall through and get hurt or even worse, drown. Be safe and check with the park authority before venturing out.

It's a gravel terrain, I wouldn't recommend skating. 🤔

It's banned on the canal but is allowed on Carnegie lake

I think that would make a really cool getaway scene for a spy film since it's a really straight shot. Maybe they could actually have the jetpack and ice skates on? As far as the park allowing skating I think the answer is no unfortunately.

Ice skating i am assuming. I do see people walking on the frozen lake once in a while. But wont recommend. As you dont know how frozen the lake is.

Somerset County actually posts Ice skating hours and conditions at Colonial Park in Franklin Township. I skated in my youth, and it was hard to find places, as it was almost never cold enough around here. This has been a good week.

Not on canal rd

Curtis Dubbeld | Sep 28, 2018

Skate at your own risk. I would recommend finding a different spot to skate at... The currents are very strong, and if you did fall in, theres not much of a chance of you resurfacing...

Hugh Flannery | Sep 28, 2018

With this weather I'm sure you could ice-skate it

Jon Moore | Sep 28, 2018

I would not recommend it.

Igor Shapiro | Sep 28, 2018

Ishan Khare | Sep 28, 2018
