Quite a busy trail. I don’t think scenic overlook is a fitting description. Lots of little trails to wander off on. Bring fishing poles and even things for a picnic. Nice for a family outing. The scenery is delightful.

Nice flat trail for leisurely bike ride or walk. Very popular and busy on the weekends. Fun to do the bridge loops over to PA and back.

Other people will be more knowledgeable than I am, but I've parked in a little lot on Quaker Road at 40.3085, -74.6804. The Canal tow trail runs RIGHT by there, and you can do a ten-mile out and back N/NE and only cross three roads. You can also run on the path along Quaker Road into the Institute woods and then into Princeton.
Yes there is the canal path that you can walk or ride your bike. You can go up to high rocks for a more rigorous hike. You have great restaurants in lumberville a winery n golden pheasant restaurant up the road which is delicious! Then frenchtown great stores n restaurants but you should ride a bike n take water! Enjoy !! it's great up here!!

They do stock it with trout in the spring. Otherwise not much.
Griggstown and Princeton both have boat rental servicrs available. You are also allowed to bring your own boat.
In my opinion, it's not a good idea. The water flows through the canal at a pretty good speed. If there is any ice at all, there's a really good chance it's not thick, or stable, enough to support your weigh. There is a really good chance you can fall through and get hurt or even worse, drown. Be safe and check with the park authority before venturing out.
