Are there any exceptions to the 8-person seating? Like, can I add a 9th person to the table if it's a 5-yr old that can sit in a high chair?

8,9,10,they will let you bring 20 people if you want to.

Yes. They can use the whole area if necessary with a leaf to join the tables.
