Not likely. Black bears have been spotted and are listed as being active in every county in New Jersey. However, unlike the mountainous deciduous forests in North Jersey, you aren't likely to run across any black bears in the flat sandy Pinelands. I camp in the Pines frequently, especially the largest forest and remote sections of Wharton, like weeks at a time, and have never encountered a single black bear there. I'm comparison, in places like Jenny Jump State Forest or the New Jersey section of the Appalachian trail, I have seen them as frequently as daily. Now, on the other hand, you might hear, but not likely see, coyotes if you spend the night. Never really see them, but they can be heard howling as far as 7 miles away.
I'm not saying there aren't any but I've never seen any!!
I just drive rite by it on my way to LBI.
Don't think so No yogi
New jersey has a large black bear population. so, it's possible. But not likely for you to run into one because they normally stay away from humans.
Haven't seen any bears on our hikes but we have heard mid size critters during the night(best guess would be foxes and raccoons)
