I've personally never experienced anything like that, usually the doctor puts in my prescriptions while she's sitting right there in the room with me. That an issue you have to take up with the physicians or physicians assistant at your mother's next appointment for sure
I have found that calling in to the place means you have to go through the answering service to the nurse assistant then relay to the doctor but if you have access to the rural health Portal then you can request it online and you will usually have it handled within one day as well as calling the pharmacy and speaking to the pharmacist himself and explaining usually they're good people they'll try to make it happen within 24 hours if necessary
