I bought a pair of little earrings for my 11 yr. old granddaughter's birthday. Tag on the back: NOT INTENDED FOR CHILDREN 12 AND UNDER. Why? Simply because they are small/choking precaution OR is it because of metal content? NEED TO KNOW.

Could be a choking hazard as well, but some individuals will react to certain metals

Probably a problem the ears becoming infected because of metal content.

Call the manufacture of the earrings. I would assume the metal content wouldn't affect an 11 year old any more than a 12 year old
