Thinking about adopting a dog from Berkshire animal shelter However I have a torti cat I adopted and she is 5 year old would they cat and dog eventually get along ?

Hi Pamela - I work at the shelter and just saw your question. When you come in - if you haven't already - you can speak to the feline and the kennel staff. They can answer all your questions. It really depends on the cat and the dog. They do cat-test all the dogs, so they can show you the ones that have lived with cats, or are likely to be the most calm and non-reactive around them. I don't think anyone can say for sure yes or no. I'm sure the shelter could offer many helpful tips to make the adoption/transition a positive one.
