My daughter's have had 4 of their cats to this vet for shots etc. and never had any issues. I've referred them to many ppl. Today, one of my daughter's cats was viciously attacked by a dog. We race to the vet, call from parking lot, then get told they do not have the time to see our injured family cat. With my daughter sobbing hysterically in the background that her cat is going to die, whomever answered the phone call was emotionless, stating "we are full today and booked for 2 weeks", and hung up the phone. None of our pets will be remaining a patient at this veterinary office where a dying cat, traumatized child and loyal customer are completely disregarded. I have worked as a veterinary assistant (1 yr), ran a pet rescue (4 yrs), and in all my years have NEVER been this shocked at the response from a veterinary place. No suggestions or supportive/caring comments, questions, or ANYTHING to help us find the help we needed. Just a cold refusal to help and hanging up. When it happens that there is literally no vet available for an emergency, the absolute LEAST I would do when I was in this profession was help find someone else to see the animal. A GOOD VET WITH CARING STAFF, would send someone out to somewhat evaluate the pet, to in the very least see if they had any advice on what to do while finding a vet that would see her. Or, even just speak kindly to a family that is in absolute panic. Pittsfield Veterinary Hospital did nothing and lacked compassion. To the staff that responded to us today, YOU'RE IN THE WRONG CAREER. How many family pets died because this veterinary hospital was booked with spay/neuter appointments? I don't want to know.

Pittsfield Veterinary has been responsible for medical care of my cats and dogs over the years. They are caring of both me and the animals.

Do they declaw cats here?

The veterinarians at Pittsfield Veterinary Hospital are willing to perform surgical declawing of cat's front paws in certain situations. We are only willing to perform this surgery for patients that we see consistently and only if other alternatives have been tried and have failed. Fortunately, it is not a surgery that is performed very often at our hospital. Dr. Reynolds

My dog is 9 years old just recently developed cataracts and I'm thinking of having them removed. She is a Schnoodle and is a diabetic. What would the cost be for this type of surgery and what success rate is there?

Darlene Thornburg | Sep 27, 2018
Pittsfield Veterinary Hospital | Sep 27, 2018

Thanks for the question Darlene. Surgery to remove cataracts is only done by a Board Certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist. We typically refer our clients to Ophthalmologists in the Albany area. Once they have examined your Schnoodle, they can give you an estimate for the surgery and what they feel the success rate will be. Dr. Reynolds

I'm sure if your a current patient there they would see you ASAP. If not a current patient, After you tell reception the.problem, I'm sure if it's considered a emergency, they will still get you in ASAP. They are wonderful there. I recommend them.
