It's likely more crowded than usual on a Sunday, with special exhibits adding to the draw. If you get there around noon, not too bad.

I went on a recent Sunday to see the post impressionists' exhibit. It was very crowded. I assumed it was because of the free admission to the museum and free parking they offer on Sundays and then the drawing power of that exhibit.

I have only been there once, but when I was there it didn't seem nor feel crowded. I am not sure how busy it is other days of the week.

Yes, most Sundays the museum is very busy compared to other days of the week. It is a free admission day and there are usually some family friendly programs going on.
